Features

Scalable multi-user / multi-server architecture
P3ocr is a multi-user system. Anyone can use the OCR function by simply e-mailing their image file(s) to a nominated e-mail address.

No client software to install
P3ocr does not have a client interface, other than existing e-mail applications. Hence your company will not have the expense of installing software on every desktop and you won't have to manage a deployed system. As the application runs only on the server there is minimal administration required. The admin interface is via a web browser, which keeps the product simple and removes the need for training.
Multiple file types supported
P3ocr will read the majority of common image types, including TIFF, JPG, BMP and PDF. The server will read the contents of the e-mail and OCR each attachment in turn, converting the output to the desired format. These output formats include plain ASCII test, Rich Text Format (RTF) for use with word processors, HTML for publishing on web-sites and intranet sites and Adobe PDF. P3ocr uses a default setup to control the OCR task, this can be overridden on a task by task basis to ensure you get the results you need.
Multiple language support
The OCR engine understands most world recognised main languages, with dictionary spelling check support these include English other main European languages and Nordic languages. Also included are 4 East Asian languages: Chinese (Traditional, Simplified), Japanese, and Korean and many other additional languages. The engine also understands artificial and programming languages, simple chemical formulae and digits.
Simple e-mail interface
To access P3ocr simply create an e-mail and attach one or more image files containing the scanned documents. Then send it to the P3ocr e-mail address. Your request will join a queue for processing. As soon as the OCR Server has processed your request the OCR'd document can be returned to any e-mail address. More options are available by using the embedded commands option described hereafter.
Volume based licensing
Although P3ocr is a multi-user system, the product is not licensed on the number of users wanting to use the system. P3ocr is licensed by the volume of pages OCR'd per year. Customers choose the volume they want and then purchase the relevant licence. This is a one-off charge rather than a yearly fee. If demand increases then customers can either upgrade the volume for a particular server, or purchase additional licence(s).
Network folder monitor
P3ocr will monitor nominated network or local folders for suitable documents. When a user places the document in such a folder P3ocr will OCR the document and place the new file into a nominated folder.
Embedded Commands
By default the OCR uses a configuration specified by the administrator to handle an OCR task. However, the options can be overridden by using "Embedded Commands". These commands can be entered in the body of the e-mail that is being sent, or can be supplied via a text file attachment.
