Unimessage P3fax and P3ocr 1.1.0.3 Released
10 March 2009
Unimessage P3 version 1.1.0.3 installer is now available for download.
This installer can be used to install a new copy of P3fax, P3ocr or P3gateway or to update an existing installation of P3fax. It cannot be used to update an existing installation of stand-alone P3ocr.
Unimessage P3 1.1.0.3 is largely a maintenance release, introducing several minor improvements and fixes:
Improvements
- I-netportal devices are now supported on P3fax configurations supporting 5 or more users whereas previously I-netportal was only supported on P3fax configurations supporting 10 or more users.
- Improved support for the Konica Minolta bizhub 163f (and, where appropriate, other I-netportal compatible LAN MFPs):
- When a fax received via the Konica Minolta bizhub 163f if then forwarded to another number the received fax is now correctly attached to the forwarded message whereas previously it was not.
- Large transmissions are sent in parts so that they can fit within the available memory of the 163f.
- Faxes are now provided to the 163f in metric resolutions (e.g. 204×196 instead of 200×200) as the 163f can accept Standard, Fine and Superfine metric resolution faxes but only Standard and Fine resolution faxes in the original resolutions.
- When error 552 is received from the 163f (meaning “out of memory”) as P3fax attempts to uploaded a transmission to the 163f the job is no longer subject to limited retries in the hope and expectation that on a subsequent attempt sufficient memory in the 163f will be available to upload the fax.
- When using P3fax with an I-netportal compatible LAN MFP if the LAN cable is disconnected while a transmission is being uploaded to the MFP’s memory the upload will timeout and the job fail after 1 minute, previously it would remain “in progress” (as shown in P3fax’s Outbox) indefinitely.
- Fax transmissions via an I-netportal compatible LAN MFP can no longer be interrupted. Previously they would appear to have been interrupted but would in fact still complete.
- Poll jobs are no longer assigned to I-netportal fax device that cannot do such job.
- When configuring I-netportal fax devices a new property (Portal SMTP Port) is provided through which the SMTPServerPort= .DEV file setting can be edited to avoid conflicts with other SMTP servers already running on the same PC that are listening on the default port 25. Note: The fax device must itself also be reconfigured to connect to the revised SMTP server port.
- The P3suite NSIS installer now deletes any “Start, Programs, FreeRIDE” shortcut folder (if Ruby wasn’t already installed elsewhere).
- P3Console now copies CONSDFT.XML over the top of any existing CONSOLE.XML in the user’s “Application Data” folder if, for whatever reason, it failed to parse the existing document. This change was made after a user experienced various symptoms with P3Console (including: 516 errors from Portal when sending, reporting that the user was not authenticated; print captures not bringing up a Send dialog; not remembering user logon details) the cause of which was ultimately traced to a corrupted Console.XML file.
- imServer.EXE is now compatible with zlib1.dll version 1.2.x – previously it would have crashed if used on a PC that included zlib1.dll v1.2.3.
- New entries in a P3fax user’s personal Send Items folder are now listed in the order they were completed, with most recent first. Previously they were listed in reverse creation order.
- P3console no longer attempts to connect to the P3fax LDAP contact list and shows To/Cc/Bcc on P3console’s “Send” dialog as labels rather than buttons when configured to send via an external SMTP mail server.
- The “P3” system tray icon (P3group) checks at 1 second intervals that all components in it’s right-click menu are still valid and any that are not are removed from the “P3” icon’s right-click list.
Cosmetic Improvements
- “P3” System tray icon:
- Now shows a hover hint of “Unimessage P3”.
- The Japanese translation of “Restore” is revised.
- Class 2 fax device driver:
- The “X” in the top right-hand corner and the “Close” entry in the left-hand system menu both hide the WIL32C2.EXE dialog (like clicking the “OK” button).
- The “Close” button is renamed “Shutdown”.
- The “OK” and “Shutdown” buttons are widened.
- The Japanese translation of “Restore” is revised.
- Mailer device driver:
- The Japanese translation of “Restore” is revised.
- Selecting “Restore” now always shows the component restored to the desktop, previously the first such selection displayed the component minimised to the Windows taskbar.
- P3fax ImageServer:
- The dialog now includes an “OK” button which when clicked will hide the dialog without closing the component.
- The “Terminate” button on the dialog is renamed “Shutdown”.
- P3fax Device Launcher:
- Clicking the “X” in the top right corner of the dialog now hides the dialog without closing the component.
- A “Shutdown” button is added to the dialog which will close the component when clicked.
- P3fax Scheduler:
- Selecting “Restore” for the component’s entry in the “P3” system tray icon’s context menu now always shows the component restored to the desktop, previously the first such selection displayed the component minimised to the Windows taskbar.
- P3fax Mail Portal:
- The “Close” button (which hides the dialog) is renamed “OK”.
- Selecting “Restore” for the component’s entry in the “P3” system tray icon’s context menu now always shows the component restored to the desktop, previously the first such selection displayed the component minimised to the Windows taskbar.
- The dialog’s background is now consistent on Windows XP and Vista.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed: When P3fax is uninstalled on Server 2003 an error starting a service (OpenLDAP P3 Directory Service) is recorded in Windows Event Viewer because it wasn’t correctly removed during uninstallation.
- Fixed: If many faxes are submitted (without any associated time delay) to P3fax before any are started then they might not previously have been sent in the order that they were submitted.
- Fixed: Each time the “Find” button is clicked on P3console’s “Logon to P3fax” dialog the found P3fax installations are added to the “Server” drop down list producing duplicates.
- Fixed: P3console sometimes crashes if you double clicked (to select) on the IP address of a found P3fax Scheduler when configuring the P3fax logon information.
- Fixed: The English P3fax Embedded Commands PDF includes “If you want to” at the end of the paragraph of text describing the [[BROADCAST=]] command.
- Fixed: If Windows is restarted or shutdown when P3fax is running Windows might report that DevX.exe is not responding and provide an “End Task” option to terminate it.
- Fixed: When using Vista 64, if WIL32C2.EXE is running as Windows was shutdown/restarted and the C2 dialog has been restored to the desktop during the current WIL32C2.EXE session then WIL32C2.EXE often crashes as Windows shuts down.
- Fixed: “Send image file. Cannot open attachment” was reported when sending something created by printing to the “P3 printer” via an external SMTP mail server using P3console.
- Fixed: Unable to view email attachments in the browser when there is no email message body.
- Fixed: If a contact is defined that includes fax number and you then attempt to select that contact when creating a new poll job the fax number isn’t shown next to the contact’s check box.
- Fixed: Cannot paste into P3console and image copied to the clipboard in MS Paint.
- Fixed: When using “Find Devices”... if you select to choose a device from a list (rather than to detect a connected device), click “Next”, click “Back” and then click “Next” again you see the “detect” page rather than the “select” page.
- Fixed: If P3console is configured to send via P3fax but does not have P3fax logon details P3console displays the “P3fax Logon” dialog as it starts. If you close the main P3console window before closing P3console’s separate “P3fax Logon” dialog then Console.EXE remains running (as shown by Task Manager) when you do click “X” to close the P3fax Logon” dialog.
- Fixed: Opening a BMP image in P3console and then saving the image as a .PDF file resulted in a corrupt .PDF file.
- Fixed: If the server PC onto which the P3 programs are installed includes >1 NIC and an incoming connection to create a new job is received through other than the primary NIC from either P3conole or the P3fax web interface then the job is not be created successfully and either “510 failed to open image. Image client operation failed (1).” (P3console) or “Fax file is corrupt” (web interface) is reported.
- Fixed: From P3 1.1.0.0 to 1.1.0.2 inclusive the “Scan” button on P3console’s toolbar incorrectly added the scanned page(s) to the current image file whereas it should create a new image for the scanned page(s).
- When Console.EXE is configured to logon to P3fax but send via an external mail server and you click the “Send” button on Console.EXE’s toolbar pressing ESC now closes P3console’s “Send” dialog rather than displaying P3console’s “Recipients” dialog showing P3fax contacts.
- When replying to or forwarding a received email that includes a quotation character in the subject, the subject for the new message is no longer cropped after the quotation mark.
- When replying in P3fax to an internal message received from another P3fax user (i.e. not an external email) the “To” field is now completed correctly with the original sender’s details.
