Unimessage Pro reports 'No device to handle transmission speeds'
26 March 2009
When Unimessage Pro shows an entry in the Outbox with “Problem: No device to handle transmission speeds” status this means that the job has been created with settings requiring it to be sent at speeds which the logged on devices are unable to support.
Minimum and maximum speeds for fax transmissions are set by each user via their Unimessage Pro “Setup, Send” menu on the “Sending” tab.
Though fax modems supports PC connection speeds of up to 57600 the maximum fax communication speed via a Class 1 compatible fax modem is 14400 – if you set the “Minimum Speed (bps)” value to something about 14400 when using a Class 1 fax modem then the fax will not be sent.
Try selecting the “Setup, Send” menu in Unimessage Pro and then the “Sending” tab and check the “Minimum Speed (bps)” value – if it isn’t already “2400” (or at most 14400) change it then click “OK” and then submit a NEW fax transmission (you will have to delete existing fax transmissions if this change is successful).
Note: CAPI 2.0 ISDN fax cards and some Class 2.0 compatible fax modems can send (and receive) faxes at speeds faster than 14400 when used with Unimessage P3fax.
