P3fax v1.0.6 released
30 June 2006
Wordcraft are pleased to announce that P3fax version 1.0.6 is available for download.
P3fax 1.0.6 addresses several requests and issues reported by users in the field as well as improvements developed in house, some of the changes included in P3fax 1.0.6 are as follows:
- If SPACE characters were included in embedded commands in documents printed to the P3 printer or typed as part of a fax number onto the P3console "Edit Message" dialog then two transmissions were scheduler with the second transmission being only to the portion of the fax number up to the first space character.
- Folders, e.g. the Inbox, sometimes didn't list the items correctly sorted by the "Received" column's content.
- In previous versions of P3fax, if an error occurred while attempting to connect to an SMTP or POP3 mail server associated with an email account then an orange globe was displayed on the right-hand-side of the Mail Accounts list. A yellow warning triangle is now shown instead so that the error is more apparent. When the mouse is hovered over the warning triangle (or the orange globe) icon the actual error is displayed.
- When messages in a P3fax user's Inbox are downloaded into a separate email client (by connecting to the P3fax PC's POP3 mail server and specifying the P3fax user's name and password) all received faxes are downloaded as .PDF attachments to the email message. An option to download as .TIF attachment instead of .PDF is now available. To activate .TIF attachment mode add the following to the PORTAL.INI file stored in the "Bin" folder in the main P3fax installation folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\P3fax\Bin\Portal.INI:
[Main]
AttachmentFormat=TIF - When a fax is first received into P3fax System Routing Rules are applied. In previous versions of P3fax, if the received fax was subsequently transferred/duplicated to one or more P3fax users then the System Routing Rules were are applied again. From P3fax 1.0.6 System Routing Rules are only applied on first receipt.
- If a large number of multi-page received faxes were simultaneously copied to several P3fax users the system sometimes started behaving strangely so that clicking any link in the P3fax browser window returned the user to the P3fax logon page. A timeout page is now presented.
- "The XML page cannot be displayed" was sometimes displayed if you submitted a transmission via a P3console user directly to P3fax when you were already logged as the same P3fax user in the web browser when you attempted to log back in via the browser. This is fixed in 1.0.6.
- When creating a new P3fax user "[[; SCHEDULERERRORS; Passwords did not match]]" was displayed above the list of users if the same text was not typed into "Password" and "Confirm password", the correct message is now displayed.
- Previously when an existing SMTP mail server's properties were displayed the "Type" field initially incorrectly displays "POP3 Server (incoming)" though the port correctly shows 25. The type is now correctly shown as "(S)SMTP Server (Outgoing)".
- Improvements have been made to better support the use of P3fax in a DHCP LAN environment where the IP address of the PC running the scheduler may change between P3fax scheduler sessions.
- Improvements have been made to the installer in relation to installation on a PC with more than one IP address, they are now presented as a list to choose from rather than as a string of IP addresses separated by a semi-colon.
- Pagination now correctly excludes all system messages when displaying user folders. In previous versions placeholders for system messages were sometimes displayed in place of user messages meaning that not all the user's messages were visible.
- Additional links, to www.p3fax.com and www.wordcraft.com/support.htm, are now accessible via Windows Add/Remove Programs where supported by the version of Windows in use.
